Concrete tiles are precast solid products that are manufactured using cement concrete and can be produced in different shapes and sizes, depending on the needs and requirements in each specific application. The most common option, chosen by many clients, is the interlocking type of concrete tiles, which is preferred for the pavement of many open surfaces, due to the convenience for easy movement and walking it provides. Concrete tiles are available in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. They can be purchased in any of the thousands of shades that are possible, from soft, natural earth tones, to vibrant reds, so they can blend with any type of already existing décor.
The manufacturing process of concrete tiles is simple and standardized, consisting of a few steps: proportioning, mixing, compacting, curing and drying. After all items of raw material, such as cement, sand and stone chips, in the right proportions, are mixed together with added water, the mixed material is discharged on to the moulds. It is extremely important not to allow the mixture to dry and harden during the process of concrete tiles manufacturing. The mixture is then poured into the shapes, using vibrators for ensuring that it sets well and there is no porosity left. After compacting the concrete tiles in the desired size and shape, they are allowed to dry for one day, avoiding their exposure to direct sunlight. The hardened concrete tiles are cured with water afterwards, in order to moisturize them and allow the settling of cement. When the final step is over, the products are ready to be used in different types of applications.
