FAQS

What is Valve?

You must have seen water regulation valves at your homes!

In simple words, valves are a type of specially designed mechanical device that helps to regulate, control or redirect the flow of a liquid from one chamber to another. Valves are a mandatory component of a piping or plumbing system. Without valves, there would be no way to regulate the water flowing through the pipes. Depending on your requirements, there are several types of valves available for different purposes. Some of them are as follows:

  • Gate valve
  • Globe valve
  • Control valve
  • Pressure valve
  • Hydraulic valve
  • Relief valve etc

What are the different types of valves?

Depending on your requirements, there are several types of valves available for different purposes. Some of them are as follows:

  • Gate valve
  • Globe valve
  • Control valve
  • Pressure valve
  • Hydraulic valve
  • Relief valve etc

Why do we use different types of valves?

Valves come in different shapes and sizes and are designed to perform different functions. Not all valves can work in the exact same way! Some valves are used to regulate the flow of water, some are used to build pressure whereas some are used to redirect the flow of water to a different direction. Therefore to perform different functions in varied scenarios, different types of valves are used.

What is a valve assembly?

A valve assembly refers to a complete mechanism of valve supply which includes all kinds of parts that are related to the installation and the proper functioning of the valve. A valve assembly would consist of everything, ranging from fluid control chambers, the electrical wiring, sensors etc.

What is the function of valves in general?

Valves are used to control the flow of water in a channel. Valves are fitted to water supply channels wherein they work to redirect the flow of water to a different channel, cut off water supply, help to adjust the pressure of the water and also to prevent backflow of water.

What are the types of ball valves?

Ball valves are a particular type of flow control channels that help to Based on your particular requirement, you can opt for various types of ball valves such as, single body valve, three piece body valves, split body valves, top entry valves, welded valves etc.

What is a gate valve?

Gate valve,as you can understand from the name itself, is a type of valve that works like a barrier gate. It uplifts the gate when water or any fluid needs to be passed through the piping chamber. However, when the fluid supply needs to be cut off, the gate-like structures in the valves are closed. One of the biggest features of a gate valve is it's straight pathway, which puts minimum pressure on the walls of the chambers. Gate valves can be found in different shapes and sizes that can suit your requirements perfectly!

What is a ball valve?

A ball valve is a specially designed variety of valve in which the valve regulates the flow of any liquid or gas passing through it with the help of a rotating ball like structure. If you rotate the ball in a clockwise fashion upto 90 degrees, the chamber will be blocked. Rotating it anticlockwise will lead to opening of the chamber. Ball valves also come in various shapes and sizes, depending on the requirements of the buyer.

What is a hydraulic valve?

Hydraulic valves are just like any other mechanical valves, except it works to regulate and redirect fluid within a hydraulic circuit. Hydraulic valves are used best in situations where pressure of flow of the fluid needs to be regulated or the fluid needs to be redirected to a different direction. The only reason why hydraulic valves get preferred over regular valves is due to the fact that it can withstand immense pressure. They are made out of materials like iron or steel that have the capability to withstand the fluid pressure. In general there are three types of hydraulic valves based on their specific function. They are as follows:

  • Hydraulic pressure control valves
  • Hydraulic flow control valves
  • Hydraulic directional control valves

What is a Safety Valve ?

Safety valves are a type of valve that have been designed and installed into the chamber solely for safety purposes. Whenever a fluid chamber gets under excessive pressure that needs to be relieved, the safety valves come to use. Without a safety valve, the entire setup can be prone to major accidents and damage, putting the lives of workers at risk. While purchasing a safety valve, we need to make sure that it is of superior quality and is properly functional at all times. Safety valves are used under the following circumstances:

  • Blocked pathway
  • Thermal expansion
  • Exposure to fire or ignition of fire
  • Cooling system failure

What is the difference between a valve and a faucet?

Valves are devices which control the flow of a fluid passing through it, like a liquid or a gas. At times, they are also used to isolate fluids across its body. Their workings are usually automated. Whereas, Faucets are technically valves, but manual operated and used as an opening to get fluid out of the system.

How do control valves work?

Control valves control the liquid flowing through its body, unlike gate valves which isolate two different liquids. They have actuators which provide force to operate the valve and these control valves are categorized based on these actuating mechanisms. Pressure sensors trigger these actuators. Pneumatic actuators use air or gas to modify the width of the orifice of the control valve, whereas Electric actuators do the same using a motor. Hydraulic actuators are similar to Pneumatic actuators which use hydraulic fluids like oil instead of gas or air.
