The role of the sewage treatment plants is to remove contaminants from the wastewater. Industrial wastewater represents the total amount of water which comes from industrial or commercial processes. The first sewage treatment plants were built in England in the nineteenth century. Initially, there was created a sewerage and it discharged into the Thames River.
